NotesEdward Lovett was a passionate collector and in the late 19th and early 20th centuries amassed a huge collection of objects covering his major interests. He had a wide ranging fascination with alpine plants, geology, and natural history but he is best known for his knowledge and enthusisam for legends and folklore. He gave some of his collection to the Cuming museum in 1916 but many museums have examples of his life's work. He recorded not only the object but what its superstitious function was and the Lovett collection still amazes and delights people today.
