DescriptionAcorn-shaped brass pendant, used as a safeguard against lightning. The pendant is hollow and the top screws off. The top half of the pendant has a pattern of semi circles and is indented with small marks. The screw top is decorated with a border of beads. Collected in West London.

In the past, the Oak tree was thought to be the home of the thunder god. As such, the acorn (or any object made in its shape) was regarded as a charm against lightning.
