DescriptionBrown shoe horn made from a polished horn, with a pierced hole for cord at the tip. The colour gradates toward the tip. The common use of shoe horns can be recorded from the 15th century but not much is known about their origin. Working people went barefoot or used rough clogs so the need to help the foot into tight shoes was probably a more middle to upper class requirement. From the 16th century wealthier people wore fashionable tight shoes and shoe horns became an every day tool.
