DescriptionTaiaha quarterstaff or stave. Made of dark red wood with one end flattened to a narrow blade. The top is decorated with a carved double face and long pointed tongue with elaborate surface designs, and abalone shell eye inserts. It would have been used by a person over 3m tall. Maori.
