DescriptionThis piece at first looks as if it might be a last for shoemaking but on closer inspection it has an opening at the top, although this is folded in on itself. This item is made of a form of early rubber called caoutchoc made from the gum of trees, especially Hevea and Ficus. It may be an early form of protective rubber overshoe.
