DescriptionFeather tippet or shoulder cape of red, black and yellow feathers. Collected on Captain Cook's third voyage and said to be from the Sandwich Islands. Made of aupene (made from the inner bark of the orena), and decorated with the yellow feathers of the Kauai oo bird and red feathers of the Tivi. This spectacular object is kept by the British Museum when it is not on display, as it needs specialised environmental storage conditions and is extremely delicate.
