DescriptionFake Aztec figure carved in black pumice stone. It is crudely carved and often this means it might have been made for the tourist trade and is not an authentic pre-Columbian piece. Henry Syer Cuming worked hard in later life to uncover fakes but inevitably they did find their way into this and other museums' collections.
