DescriptionClog-shaped shoes called "sabots". They are made of dark beech wood. The heels have edges flaring outwards and pointed toes. These sturdy shoes are peasant footware from France, possibly Breton. Wooden clogs like these however are found in many parts of Europe and were a common work shoe from the 16th to 19th centuries.
