DescriptionMoxa cone in box.The box is a circular shape and lined with pink paper. It contains a cone shaped piece of wadding which is coverd by a thin cloth. Moxa cones are a type of traditional Chinese medicine used to apply heat to improve circulation in a specific part of the body. The cone is placed on the affected part and set light to. Moxa is made by bruising the stems of the mugwort plant in a mortar, and then selecting the most downy fibres. This can be burnt as it is or processed into cigar shaped sticks.
