DescriptionCircular Roman ring from a horses reins, found in Tokenhouse Yard. London.

When originally in use, this ring would have been connected to a second by a short piece of metal. This would have been placed in the horses mouth, while the reins themselves would have been threaded through the rings. If the horse was pulling a chariot, the rings would also have been used to tie the horse to it.
