DescriptionHead of a baboon, possibly depicting the god Thoth who could be depicted in baboon form although he was more regularly shown with the head of an Ibis. Thoth was associated with the moon and with writing, science, philosophy and magic. However he also assisted Anubis in judging human souls in the weighing of the heart ceremony. Thoth is a very significant god in Egyptian religion.

In the original Cuming catalogue it is ascribed to the god Hapi but Hapi is normally human headed.
