DescriptionLeather baby or miniature shoe with 'sun-cross' design. It is round toed, flattened at the front and back, and has a hole for a nail through the top. It is brown in colour, but the underside shows bright yellow, orange and red. The flower-like symbol is cut out and a different fabric shows through underneath. It is decoratively stitched around the edge. It would have been nailed to a wall for good luck. Shoes are a symbol of the journey through life and therefore lucky. Acquired in Whitechapel in 1920.
