Born 1905 in West Hartlepool, Country Durham; died 1974 (location not yet known)

Dorothy Mills won a scholarship to a local art school in Country Durham. Mills then sidelined her activities as an artist, instead she trained to be a nurse at Dulwich Hospital and worked at Kings College Hospital during World War II. Mills returned to painting during the 1950s, and exhibited with the South East London Art Group, where she was also a member of its committee. Mills' paintings - mostly watercolours - are topographical of the Southwark area. The Southwark Art Collection holds eighteen examples of her work; two being oil paintings - Borough Market (GA1331) and Gentle Jungle, the Forest of Arden (GA1192).
