Anthony Fry

born 1927

b. 1927 in Theydon Bois, Essex. Studied at Edinburgh College of Art and Camberwell School of Art (1947-50) under Coldstream, Pasmore, Rogers and Gowing. Awarded the Rome Scholarship (1950-2). Taught at Bath Academy, Corsham (1954) and Camberwell School of Art (1956). First one-man exhibition in London at St. George's Gallery (1955) and in New York at Durlacher Bros (1961). Fifteen solo exhibitions since 1955, included in galleries such as New Art Centre, London, Browse & Darby, London and Peter Findlay Gallery, New York. Work can be found in collections in the U.K. at the Arts Council of Great Britain, Contemporary Art Society, Saatchi Collection and Tate Gallery. Painting tutor at Chelsea School of Art (1993).
