Charles Allston Collins was a painter and illustrator associated with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. However, Collins divided members of the artistic brotherhood and was therefore not elected a member. Collins eventually gave up painting to pursue a career in writing. He married Charles Dickens' daughter Kate in 1860.
