Portrait painter

Studied at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. Studied painting in Paris. Influenced by Whistler, Manet, and Velazquez. Portrait and landscape painter. Exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, Paris (1904), Royal Academy (from 1909), Grafton Galleries, Grosvenor Gallery, International Society, and many other places. Founder-member of the Modern Portrait Painters Society (1907) and the National Portrait Society (1910). Kelly was President of the Royal Academy (PRA) between 1949 and 1954, and was knighted in 1955.
