Donald Hamilton Fraser

b. 1929 in London, England. d. 2 Sept. 2009. Studied at St. Martin's School of Art, London (1949-52) and received French Government Scholarship to live and work in Paris (1953) where he lived and worked for two years. Worked as visiting tutor at the Royal College of Art (1957-83). Inspired by Scottish landscape. Creates landscape paintings and hand-made prints that form abstract, dream-like fields of colour. Solo exhibitions at Gimpel Fils, London (1953); Gimpel-Hanover Gallery, Zurich (1967); six solo exhibitions at the CCA Gallery, London (1987-94); three solo exhibitions at Bunkamura Gallery, Tokyo (1988-97); two solo exhibitions at Bunkamura Gallery (1990-92); Flying Colours Gallery, Edinburgh (1993); two solo exhibitions at the New Academy Gallery, London (1994-97); A T Kearney Corporation, London (1996); the City Gallery, London (1998); W H Patterson Fine Art, London (2000 & 2003); and Oakham Galleries, London (2004); honorary curator at the Royal Academy (1992-1999).
