fl. 1394 - 1427

Venetian artist of the late Gothic and early Renaissance periods.

Niccolò Di Pietro is believed to have established himself as as independent master by 1394 when he signed a panel depicting the Virgin and Child Enthroned (Gallerie dell' Accademia, Venice). In 1404 Niccolò also signed and dated a Crucifix (Verucchio, SS Martino e Francesco). The last known document which refers to Niccolò is dated 4 October 1430. From 1408, Niccolò was deeply influenced by Gentile de Fabriano (c.1370 – 1427) and his work in the Palazzo Ducale (also known as the Doge's Palace).

Niccolò Di Pietro is not to be confused with Niccolò di Pietro Gerini (c.1340 – 1414) who was another late Gothic / early renaissance Italian painter, and is represented by a number of national and international collections.
