b. 1914 in Kilmarnock, d. 1962. Studied at the Glasgow School of Art (1933-38). Studied under Hugh Crawford and Ian Fleming and met his companion Robert Macbryde. Colquhoun and MacBryde first exhibited together in 1942 at the Lefevre Gallery and Colquhoun's first one-man show was in 1943 at the Lefevre, where he continued to exhibit regularly from 1943 to 1950.
