Born in Lancashire and studied at Beckenham School of Art from 1938. Studied at the Royal College of Art (1940-42 & 1947-49) under Edward Bawden. Worked in Istanbul for the Byzantine Institute (1949-50). Started print workshop at Cambridge School of Art (1965) and taught there until 1985. One-man shows at the Leicester Galleries, London (1954) and many other London Galleries.
