Lynn Chadwick

b. 1914 in London; d. 2003 in Gloucestershire, England. British sculptor. Worked as draughtsman for architectural firms in London (1933-39). Worked independently in Gloucestershire (1946-52) specializing in design. Produced designs for textiles, furniture and architecture. Began experimenting with sculpture, first works being mobiles like "Dragonfly" (1951). Influenced by Alexander Calder. First one-man show at Gimpel Fils gallery in London (1950). Commissioned to produce two sculptures for the Festival of Britain (1951).
