b. 1862 in Salem, MA; d. 1951 in Salem. American painter, etcher and teacher. Studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (1880-83) and Academie Julian (1883-86) in Paris. Instructor at the Portland School of Art. Taught at the Museum School in Boston (1998-1913) with Edmund C. Tarbell.
