b. Liverpool. Painter in oil and gouache, etcher, engraver and lecturer in art. Studied at Liverpool School of Art under Frederick Carter (1922-26), Royal College of Art under Professor Malcolm Osborne (1926-29), and Britich School of Rome (1929-31). Exhibitions at Royal Academy, Zwemmer Gallery, Leicester Galleries, Whitechapel Art Gallery, Liverpool, Bradford and many others.
