John Elwyn

John Elwyn

b. 1916 in Cardiganshire, d. 1997. Studied art at Carmarthen Art School (1933-37), West of England College of Art, Bristol (1937-38) and the Royal College of Art, London (1938-40; 46-47). Artist in oil, assistant lecturer at Portsmouth College of Art (1948-53), and Winchester School of Art. Work was shown for many years in London and Wales. Drew upon his experience of rural life in his native south Cardiganshire, inspired by his feeling towards the Welsh landscape and a nostalgic perception of the landscape experienced during a childhood in Wales.
