David Freed

b. 1936 in Toledo, Ohio. Studied at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio (1958) and University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa (1962). Studied under the legendary printmaker, Mauricio Lasansky while at the University of Iowa. Taught at the Toledo Museum of Art School of Design, Toledo, Ohio (1964-66). Exhibited in over fifty regional, national and international exhibitions and has won many awards. One-man shows include Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio (1962); Christian College, Columbia, Missouri (1962); State University College, Plattsburg, New York (1962); Western College for Women, Oxford, Ohio (1966); Mundelin College, Chicago, Illinois (1966); George Bennett Gallery, Toledo, Ohio (1966 & 67); Eric Schindler Gallery, Richmond, Virginia (1966 & 67); Medical College of Virginia, Richmond, Virginia (1968); Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Richmond, Virginia (1967); Franz Bader Gallery, Washington D.C. (1968); University of Western Illinois, Macomb (1968); Hood College, Frederick, Maryland (1968); Mary Baldwin College, Straton, Virginia (1968). Full-time professor of printmaking in the Painting and Printmaking Department at Virginia Commonwealth University (since 1966).
