Pierre Bonnard

b. 1867 in Fontenay-aux-Roses, France; d. 1947 in Le Cannet. Studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and Academie Julian. French painter and printmaker. Member of group called the Nabis that specialized in painting intimate domestic scenes. Considered one of the greatest colourists of modern art and was known for his individual use of colour. Became influenced by Japanese prints.
