Oliver Hall

Oliver Hall

b. 1869 in London; d. 1957 in Ulverston, Lancashire. Landscape painter in oil and watercolour, and etcher that preferred rugged moorland and Spanish subjects. Studied at the Royal College of Art (1887-90) and Westminster and Lambeth Schools of Art evening classes, and privately with D.A. Williamson of Liverpool. Travelled in Spain, France and Italy. Exhibited etchings at the Royal Academy (starting in 1890). Member of R.E. (1890), International Society (1904) and R.W.S. (1919). First one-man exhibition at the Dowdeswell Gallery (1898). Exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts and abroad.
