André Bicât OBE

Painter, sculptor and print maker.

Began as textile and theatre designer then went into work with oils, water-colours and other media. One-man shows in Leicester Galleries, London; La Galerie de l'Institut, Paris; Dublin University. Bicât had his first retrospective exhibition in 1966 at Reading Art Gallery. Abstract period in the early 1960s although the bulk of his work is landscape in subject and form. Bicât belonged to no school or movement. Between 1966 and 1974 he was also a tutor at the Royal College of Art.

Bicât is represented by public collections including Tate, British Museum, Arts Council, Government Art Collection, Victoria and Albert Museum, and Reading Museum, among others.
