DescriptionEaster egg. It has been dyed pink and painted in gold with emblems of Christ and Astarte, hung from green thread. I green tassle hangs from the base. Astarte was the Phoenician goddess of fertility, motherhood and war, and sometimes regarded as the prototype of the Virgin Mary. The Mystic Egg of Astarte is regarded as the symbol of Christ's resurection in the Roman Catholic Church.
