DescriptionRecent modern entry says "Conical shaped cruicible with a flat base. Crucibles were intrumental in the production of metals and alloys in the Roman world. Some were occasionally used in the production of glass. It is possible to view a crucible under a microscope to identify which metal(s) it was used for."
However we have been informed by Museum of London that this is in fact a medieval crucible not a Roman one., despite the Cuming label saying it is Roman.
