DescriptionPlumb-bob. Triangular wooden frame with a metal weight suspended by string from the apex. The inscription on the bottom right corner reads "Used in Laying the Foundation Stone. Bermondsey Town Hall. November 1880. John Porter, Churchwarden." Plum-bobs were used to make sure that building work is "plumb", or vertical.
