DescriptionMummy net of blue faience beads, in spherical and tubular shapes, upon the original thread. Mummy nets were made to cover the exterior bandages of a mummy. They were often strung with amulets as well as beads suggesting that they played a protective, as well as decorative, role. They were introduced at the beginning of the first millenium and would have been used in wealthy burials. Some were highly decorated and could cover the full length of the mummy.
