    DescriptionScallop shell pilgrim badge decorated with a carved scene of the Nativity. Pilgrim Badges were worn by Roman Catholic pilgrims in the Medieval period as they travelled to sites of pilgrimage.

    Scallop shell pilgrim badges were traditionally worn as a pendant or on a hat by a pilgrim to the shrine of Santiago De Compostello in North West Spain, the burial place of St James.
