DescriptionKnife of grey-coloured oval shaped knapped flint, bound with plaited sinew or hide, to a haft of wood. The handle is oblong shaped with flat sides, and a wide, outward curving base. Probably used as a scraper for the final stage of skin preparation, this involved totally ridding the material of grease and oil. Skin scrapers came in many different forms and sizes, ranging from flat and curved pieces of horn to bulky flint and wood tools like this.
