DescriptionClay loom weight or net sinker. Round weight of brownish clay with central hole. Loom weights were used for spinning wool and yarn by Iron age people. The weights were meant to stop the threads getting tangled and to weigh down the ropes on the loom. Found during excavations at Fenchurch Street, London in 1878.
