DescriptionKali or head rest, from Tonga, of red coloured wood. This is an important item because it supports the head, the most sacred part of the body - the residence of a person's Mana. Because of its significant personal nature, it is insulting to touch a kali without the owner's prior permission. Head rests were used to keep a man's hair arrangement intact while sleeping.
