b. 1909 in London, d. 1999. Studied painting and engraving at Goldsmiths College. 1938 moved to France to paint. When war broke out he left his paintings on exhibition and returned to England where he joined the army. Founded the Needles Pottery in the 1950s and with his wife, Ethel, he founded the Needles Studio.
