b. 1899 in Lancashire, d. 1982. Painter of popular genre, lithographer and theatrical designer. Attended evening classes at Manchester School of Art while working the docks at night. Came to London in 1919 and attended evening classes at the Central School. Worked as illustrator and poster designer.
