DescriptionArthur Segal was a Romanian born artist and writer from a Jewish family in Iasi. He studied in Berlin and explored neo impressionism before working with the then "modern" art style and ethos. He worked and taught in Berlin until the German authorities made it too difficult for him, a Jew, to remain. He left for Madrid and then London where he set up his own art school with his daughter Marianne. He died in London after producing work in woodcut and oil. Many of his woodcuts had an anti-war theme. He also wrote extensively.
