DescriptionMagic lantern made by Richard Cuming. It is formed of a wooden box onto which is attached the lens at the front, and a contical top.

The Magic Lantern was a type of early image projector often used in the home. It used a concave mirror to shine light through a slide (on which was painted the image to be projected) and through a lens at the front. The outcome was a large projection of the image on the screen.
