DescriptionThis watercolour shows the famous shop front of Edgington's - the tent, rope, sail and flag makers. The firm was founded in 1805 and was famous for making the flags for Horatio Nelson's flagship. The company also made tents, ropes and sails - as well as hangmans' ropes - closing in 1967 when the flyover was built. The shop front was transferred from 108 Old Kent Road to Woburn Abby, where it is part of the Antiques Centre.
