DescriptionPossibly from Hassell's 1817 Picturesque Rides and Walks ... around the British Metropolis. Richard Shawe (c.1755-1816), a London solicitor, built Casino House (or Casina as it initially seems to have been called) as a country retreat on Dulwich Hill, later known as Denmark Hill. The architect was John Nash (1752-1835) and the landscape designer Humphrey Repton (1752-1818) laid out the grounds. The house was demolished in 1906 and the grounds are now the Sunray and Casino Estate. The lake survives as Sunray Gardens.
