    DescriptionLong narrow shield of wood, coloured black and inlaid with cowry shell and mother of pearl. the Cuming original catalogue entry says this was sold by Mr T Dawson in 1851 from his museum in Grasmere, Cumberland (now Cumbria). This fine shield is attributed to San Cristobal, one of the "Soloman's Islands". Soloman Islands, Melanesia.
