    DescriptionTaiaha quarterstaff or stave. Made of dark red wood with one end flattened to a narrow blade. The top is decorated with a carved double face and long pointed tongue with elaborate surface designs. It would have been used during oratory and chanting to beat out time (takitaki) for dancing, paddling or ceremonies. Maori.
