DescriptionCloak or Korowai, made from flax fibres (phromium tenax) with tufts of red and blue wool. It has a deep fringe of black dyed flax on all sides with a small number of piupiu strands. This was possibly a high ranking child's wrap or for a small sized woman. Maori children usually wore nothing but at other times wore small versions of adult cloaks and capes.
