DescriptionMen's slipper or mojari, with a pointed toe and heel. Embroidered with metallic thread, sequins and the green elytra or beetle wings in floral and paisley patterns. According to the Cuming original catalogue these were worn by the "Nabobs" of the East Indies. Nabob is an Anglo-Indian term for a conspicuously wealthy man, particularly a wealthy official. There is a suggestion in later usage of the word that the wealth was gained by corruption.
