DescriptionPear shaped, bulbous lighting vessel with narrow neck and hole all the way through. It was found at the site of the New Post Office at St. Martin's le Grand in 1870.Lamps of this style and shape were most likely kept on stands within a Roman home. This is something suggested by the lack of either a handle or any way to hang the lamp from a chain.
