DescriptionGlass bottle containing Bitumen from a mummified crocodile. Bitumen was a substance used in the embalming process. The crocodile was sacred to Sobek, god of violent powers. The Ancient Egyptians often mummified the sacred animal of a particular god and left it in their temple in order to act as gifts or messengers to the god in question. In this case it would have been for Sobek.
