DescriptionAmulet in the form of the baboon-headed god Hapy, one of the Four Sons of Horus. The Four Sons of Horus were belived to protect the liver, lungs, stomach and intestines, which were removed from the body during mummification. Hapy protected the lungs. The amulet would have been sewn onto bead nets covering the deceased.

The Four Sons of Horus were present from the Old Kingdom (2700-2184 BC), but amulets such as these, which were sewn into bead nets covering the deceased during burial, were used from the Late Period (747-332 BC).
