DescriptionSample of wool from the Ellesmere New Patent Steam Lint Company and probably medical lint. Medical lint was useful in wound dressing as it is light and absorbent. Lint soaked in boracic acid and glycerine was good for leg ulcers (boracic or "brassic" lint="skint" in Cockney rhyming slang).
Lint is less popular now as it is very fibrous and tends to stick to the wound.
